APTRA Exchange ’Navigating the Headwinds’

The upcoming APTRA Exchange ’Navigating the Headwinds’, is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday 2 November, as part of the Trinity Forum 2022 at the JW Marriott in Singapore, South Beach.

The panel’s focus will explore the dynamics facing industry recovery; notably logistics and supply chain issues, manpower shortages and changes in the employment market, inflationary pressures on operators in the wider travel ecosystem and on consumer spending power.

The four APTRA Exchange panellists are:

Liz Ortiguera, CEO of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), will provide an update on travel and tourism including visitor arrival forecasts, destination strategies and sustainable travel industry trends from across Asia Pacific and beyond from the world of PATA’s extensive membership base and industry network. Asian hospitality is often called out as world class and Liz will also bring to the conversation the all-important aspect of people and her drive to maintain this standard and why, to continue to recover from the pandemic, it’s never been more important to create a great workplace, job conditions and career paths for people working in travel and tourism.

Salvatore Arico, CEO of Partnerwise Boardroom, will share his perspective on manpower dynamics and workplace trends impacting travel retail in Asia Pacific and beyond. Formerly Chief Global Organisation and Transformation Officer at Dufry and Board member at Hellenic Duty Free, Salvatore is a highly experienced expert in people leadership and development, from shopfloor to board room in the retail and consumer brands sectors, successfully delivering strategic and cultural transformation at times of great change. He is now CEO of Partnerwise Boardroom, executive search consultancy, focused at C suite advising and delivering personalised executive search, succession planning, talent development and wider advisory solutions in organization and people management.

Sandra Tassily, Commercial Director, APAC, MENA and India, Diageo Global Travel. Leading Diageo’s Global Travel Business in APAC, MENA and India, Sandra’s expertise in bringing many category-leading premium spirits brands to market, usually on the other side of the world to where they are produced, means supply chain management is integral to her priorities. Sandra will share her post-Covid experiences of supply chain pressures.

Sunil Tuli, CEO, King Power Group (Hong Kong) and President of APTRA is one of the industry’s most seasoned retailers and is no stranger to industry crises and times of great change.  As such he is well positioned to discuss the major headwinds facing travel retail.

We are delighted to welcome this exciting line-up of experts to join Sunil in bringing their professional perspectives to this discussion. Our focus is on key macro issues and trends that affect us all in travel retail and yet are rarely discussed in a public forum. On behalf of APTRA we are grateful to Liz, Salvatore and Sandra for their time and contribution. We would also like to thank Bacardi for their valued sponsorship of the APTRA Exchange.
