News from the Council
Following its first board meeting in Orlando in March, the Duty Free World Council convened again in Singapore earlier this month to align the strategy for the association in the months ahead. Founded by TFWA, ETRC, APTRA, MEADFA, IAADFS, ASUTIL and FDFA, the association, chaired by Frank O’Connell, Vice President of ETRC has laid the groundwork for its work in the first year.
The Council is putting administration resources in place to enable it press ahead with a number of key tasks, namely mapping the scope and structure of an industry-wide database and profile and establishing an Industry Library and Resource Centre which will facilitate research activities and play a significant role in the Council’s other priority area, that of education. The possibilities and potential of establishing management development and training standards for the industry accompanied by a robust and academically sound accreditation process will be explored.
The Council Board will meet again in October during the TFWA World Exhibition and Conference in Cannes.
